Today is my birthday.

I should be excited to celebrate but I’ve been in a melancholy mood these past few weeks :/

So I thought I share a song and artist that I listen to when I feel sad or a bit blue.

Chavela Vargas is like the Aretha Franklin of Mexico. Her voice is moving and legendary; and was also known to party hard with the artists and intellectuals of Mexico City, including Frida Kahlo and Juan Rulfo.

*You might have also spotted her in the movie Frida singing La Llorona.
